Kingsbury Residence

The apartment is designed as a single open space without wall or obstruction along its 200’ perimeter of window and terrace. Originally three separate apartments, this new combination is held together through a continuous design element in varying textures of black. Treatments of ebonized wood, lacquer, concrete, handmade tile and stone explore the range and qualities of this single shade, and articulate the specific qualities and needs of each space – music room, kitchen, dining room and living room. Shifts in tone and subtle coloration are introduced in more intimate spaces, such as the entry, powder room and primary bathroom.
